Sehaj Aulakh

Sehaj spent a decade in the courtrooms of India before making Canada home. He recently joined the firm as an articling student. 

Called to the Bar in India in 2017, he began in the trial courts, where he learned the real problems, clients face and how to build a case from the ground up.

He then served three years as Assistant Advocate General for the State of Punjab, a role much like that of a Crown Attorney. He represented the government before the High Court of Punjab and Haryana in administrative, constitutional, and criminal matters, including before the Court of the Chief Justice. His work ranged from transnational border issues, where he secured the repatriation of detained juveniles, to defending the state in arbitration disputes under its Custom Milling Policy. His advocacy contributed to 51 reportable judgments published by SCC, a leading law reporter in India.

Sehaj completed his Master of Laws at the University of Toronto. He earned his law degree from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, one of India's premier national law universities, with a major in Economics and a specialisation in Criminal Law. He is fluent in Punjabi and takes pride in serving clients in the language they are most comfortable in. 

Outside the law, Sehaj has always been drawn to nature. He joined EcoSikh as an enthusiast planting forests. That passion soon earned him a seat on its Executive Board. Today he helps guide the UN associated organization, which has planted over 900,000 trees worldwide.
